I love avocados. I always have a few on hand. Unfortunately though, it seems like they are always either super hard or overripe. They are never ripe when I need them!
This happened to me yesterday. I’m prepping for dinner and realize I have 3 unripe avocados. Frustration! Then I have a thought that there is probably a way to ripen these thing up super fast. I have used the paper bag and banana method many times but that takes a day or two. A quick pinterest search and my life is changed forever!
How to ripen an avocado in 10 minutes:
- preheat oven to 200 F.
- wrap avocado in foil and place on a baking pan
- cook for 10 minutes in oven
I just tried this last night. I used two avocados. I pulled them out at 10 minutes. I actually decided to put them back in the oven for another 3 minutes. They came out perfect. They aren’t warm or mushy coming out of a 200 F oven. They have the perfect amount of softness. I sliced up the avocado and used it to top my loaded sweet potatoes. I didn’t notice a difference in taste or texture at all! I was super excited to have avocado for my meal though. Try it out and let me know if it works for you.
